September 2014 - Paint The Town Chic
Fall is my favorite time of year.  I love when the leaves change colors, the food (hello apple pies and pumpkin everything), the holidays, and of course the fashion!  Since October begins tomorrow, I wanted to put together a list of top 10 things I want to do this season, including some of my fashion "must trys"!

10. Wear Plaid
You may find this strange, but plaid has never been my friend.  Or at least that's what I've told myself until now.  It's the quintessential fall print and I can't wait to add either a plaid shirt or scarf to my wardrobe.

9. Go Apple Picking
I love apple everything! So I'd love to get some apples and finally try to make a pie!

8. Find the perfect moisturizer
The cold weather gets to my skin, so I'm always on the lookout for the best moisturizers.  I can't live without L'occitane's Shea Hand Crème, and the other scents are great for the rest of the seasons.  Still searching for a face moisturizer and a lotion!

7. Wear Sweats to Work
No, I'm not talking about your traditional sweatpants and hoodie!  How amazing are the sweatshirt dresses that are out right now-both comfortable and fashionable!

6. Wear Red Lipstick
I love experimenting with makeup, but I usually go for understated lip colors.  I definitely want to be a little bolder with my selections this season and go for some color!

5. Decorate/Carve a Pumpkin
No explanation needed!

4. Add Leather to my Wardrobe
I just found a new sweater from New York and Company with faux leather details on the sleeves...needless to say I'm obsessed.  Definitely want more pieces for the fall.

Faux Leather Jogger | Lambskin Panel Pencil Skirt (way out of budget, but I love it so much!) | Metallic Sweater

3. Bring Out The Boots
I couldn't wait, I already wore boots this year.  But a girl can never have too many pairs, right?

2. Wear White
Winter whites are just perfect, and I can't wait to incorporate the color white into the season!

1. Build Up My Jacket Collection
Winter is coming...  I'll definitely start with some moto jackets and blazers for now!

What's on your bucket list?

Recently I had the chance to meet other bloggers at a Green Beauty Blogger Event at Juju Salon in Philadelphia!  If you haven't been to Juju, what are you waiting for!  They use only natural products with all of their services.  I've gotten a few manicures at Juju (they use Zoya!!) but I've been eyeing some of other services and this was the perfect opportunity to try something new...

The salon itself is adorable!

I decided to try an eyebrow wax.  When it comes to eyebrows, I'm not a huge fan of waxing; I prefer the precision of threading. Julie, the owner of Juju, happened to be the one to wax my brows and she did an amazing job.  It was quick, but Julie was precise with her application of the wax and it did not hurt as much as I expected it to!  The brows ended up shaped perfectly and it was a great experience overall.  Plus, Julie is so warm and welcoming, it's hard not to want to come back.  I would definitely love to try some of their services for hair!

Thanks Paige Wolf PR and Juju Salon for hosting this fun event!  Can't wait to visit again!

Services at this event were complimentary, but all opinions expressed in the post are my own!

Blog posts were MIA for a few days, and now you know why!  As you may have seen, the blog has a new look and name, and I'm so excited to finally share it with you!  I've been working on a cleaner, classic look.  And there was no better time than fall to update it!  The blog will still feature fashion and beauty, but I will share more lifestyle posts as well.

Thanks for continuing to follow me.  I would love to hear what you'd like to see on the blog or any suggestions you may have!

Today's Sunday Spotlight focuses on maxi dresses.  They have been a huge hit this summer, and I really grew my maxi dress collection over the season.  But just because the weather is changing doesn't mean that this flattering look can't transition into the fall.  There are many dresses out right now that have full sleeves or feature fall friendly colors...and why not take your summer favs into the fall by throwing on a cozy scarf and moto jacket?  The possibilities are endless...

Love all of these!  Can't wait to add some fall maxi dresses to my closet!

I've had a few events that I've been planning for work, so I'm a little behind with my blogging.  But today, I wanted to share a bit about my skincare routine and a new product that I was able to try thanks to Cosmo and L'Oreal!

I was thrilled when I received the L'Oreal Youth Code Pore Vanisher in the mail to try.  I've never particularly paid attention to my pores because I'm more concerned with my oil prone skin.  Though there were some large pores on my nose that I didn't care much for.  The Youth Code Pore Vanisher says that it would "instantly minimize the look of pores.  In 1 month shrink actual pore size."

After trying it for a few weeks, I have to say that I like it!  The product is a tan color but spreads evenly on skin (as seen above!)  And it smells nice.  The pores on my nose did shrink, and I noticed that my skin looked better immediately after applying it the first time.  But I didn't notice that much of a difference of pore shrinkage on my face, so I don't have a before and after!

I love the L'Oreal skincare line and this product doesn't disappoint! It's great as a makeup primer and creates a perfect matte finish.  I didn't even have to wear foundation.  I would purchase again, but only because it's a great primer-not due to it's pore minimizing.  And I just have to share my other favorite pore minimizing product - Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser!

Ladies, be sure to try these products for yourself and see how great it makes you skin feel!

I received this product for free from Cosmo and L'Oreal, but all opinions shared here are my own.

Dress: old, H&M (similar here) | Scarf: Leopard Pashmina Scarf, Kohls (love this version) | Bag: old, New York & Company | Boots, old

This is the first, but not last, time you'll see leopard print appear here this fall.  It's definitely one of my favorite prints. Even though the scarf is a small part of the entire look, it really stands out!  Another fall favorite is a black outfit paired with brown boots - it's such a great color combo.  I wear a lot of black during the colder months and I don't like things to be too matchy, so I tend to stay away from black footwear.

I think I have to add some autumn color to my wardrobe, and I'm especially crushing on wines and berry tones right now.  I'd love to hear your favorite fall colors and prints below!

I've finally had a chance to try my August Ipsy bag items, and overall I was pleased with what I got!  They were all items I had never tried before, which I was excited about.

1.)  Coastal Scents Forever Blush Sample Duo
A little goes a long way with this blush duo.  I was a little intimidated with the color when I first tried it, but once it was blended on my cheeks, I really loved the pop of color!  A nice sized sample too, since there are still plenty of applications left for me to play around with blending and building the color!

2.) Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner
I've never really worried about pores, but lately I've tried quite a few pore refining products and I love the way they make my skin feel!  This Dr. Brandt sample was no different!  It was great primer for my makeup and kept me oil free.

3.) Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
Dare I say I found my new favorite everyday mascara?   A smooth application, slight curl, defined lashes without clumping...this mascara gives lashes a polished look with a dramatic effect (which I prefer for special occasions and going out!)  I used 2 coats and my lashes were good to go.  Another win for Urban Decay!

4.) Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil
Finally a kohl eyeliner!  I often times  line my lower lash line and a kohl eyeliner is safe for that purpose, so I was really glad to get this in my bag! It was a nice, deep pigment, and was easy to smudge.  This may be good for a smokey eye!

5.) Absolute Lip Balm in Grape
This is the one item of the bag that I didn't care for.  I don't like grape flavored items and I'm not a fan of glitter on the lips.  I also prefer lip balms in a tube because of the easy application.  This seems like a nice  product though and it will go to a new home!

I love polka dots, but I wasn't a big fan of this month's bag.  I'm sure I'll find some use for it though.  I've already peeked at my September bag and I'm looking forward to receiving it.  If you're interested in trying an Ipsy subscription, I would love if you used my link!

Cardigan: New York & Company, old | Dress: Lesley Evers | Pumps: Guess, old |
Earrings: Old Navy | Bracelets: Glamorously Refined Boutique, Kohl's

Summer decided to make one last appearance today.  A hot and muggy day called for a colorful dress, especially a dress that I got at the Lesley Evers online warehouse sale a few months ago.  This shift dress is so flattering and I just love the print-it has a slightly retro feel.  It's a great shape for work and I love the split neckline detail.  I paired with a yellow sweater because of the weather, but I would pair with a blazer to bring it into fall.  I hope there will be another sale soon because there was such a great selection of items to choose from.

All of the accessories I have on are old, but I highly recommend Old Navy and Kohls if you're looking for some new jewelry!   Also want to make a shout out to Urban Decay's Perversion Mascara-stay tuned for my August Ipsy Bag review to find out more about it!

I've stepped up my mascara game by trying Younique Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes.  There's been a lot of buzz, so I wanted to see what everyone was raving about!  I've shared my love of mascara in other posts, so this entry is dedicated to my eye routine and my first experience with Younique!

 Products Used

Lashes without product

My routine is typically two parts-and starts with a primer.  I've been using Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum and love it.  I start with a coat of primer and wait for it to dry.  Then I apply 1-2 coats of my favorite mascara.  For this post I used Benefit's They're Real! Mascara which i love for special occasions, but my everyday go to is Maybelline Falsies.

Lashes with Primer

Lashes with 1 coat of They're Real! Mascara

Once you've applied your regular mascara and it's dry, you apply the Transplanting Gel and before the Gel is dry, apply the Natural Fibers to the lashes.  Then seal the Fibers with another coat of the Gel!  You can repeat this process as many times as you want.  I only went with 1 coat because I couldn't separate my lashes - this is where  have to add a lash comb!  Brittany also gave some great tips on enhancing lashes without looking clumpy, like focusing on the tips of eyelashes!

Lashes with 1 coat of Younique 3D Lashes

Overall, I really like what the 3D lashes can do!  They were definitely more full and defined with the 3D Fibers, though it may not show so much in the photos.  I need to perfect the application technique, and get a lash comb to separate my lashes in between applications, but other than that it's pretty easy to use.  I don't really like using fake lashes so this will be a great alternative for special occasions (just too much effort for my everyday work routine!)  Not only does it provide fantastic results, but it washes right off with water.  Be warned that the product will come off in clumps, but my lashes were fine!  Can't wait to use the mascara again.

You can definitely see a difference!  I love it!

Thanks to Brittany Ross for providing the mascara sample.  All opinions in the post are my own!

Dress: Old Navy, old (similar here and here)| Murfee Scarf: Lilly Pulitzer, old (not a murfee, but this is my favorite Lilly scarf right now) | Sandals: Charlotte Russe (also comes in black!)

It's no surprise that today's outfit revolved around these shoes - one of my Labor Day sale buys!  I've been wanting a pair of gladiator sandals for a while, so it was hard to resist the price.  The weather is quickly shifting here so I wanted to test them out quickly.  I thought they would make a darker color pop, so green it was!  They are pretty comfy, even though I still have to break them in.  I can't wait to pair these with boyfriend jeans and a white tee...so many possibilities with these.

I  also wanted to keep my jewelry minimal, and I found these pretty quartz rings during a recent trip to Mammoth Caves in Kentucky, which is an amazing place!  They are nice on their own, but are fun to layer for more of a statement piece.
