July 2015 | Paint The Town Chic
It's been a while since I've done a Sale Spotlight, but there are so many great sales out there right now that I can't pick just one to highlight.  I know everyone has been obsessed with the Nordstrom sale, but I'm not a frequent shopper there, so I chose a few others that I'm really excited about.  Hurry to take advantage...the good stuff is going quickly.

Golden Tote:
Of course I've loved the concept of GT since I started getting the totes last year, but lately I have not been loving the chosens enough to justify a tote purchase (the totes I have gotten, I have loved.) I've started a wishlist of dresses and other pieces that are just too cute not to have, so luckily they began a brand new Warehouse Sale going on right now.  I got a pair of shoes and belt that have since sold out and this adorable dress that still appears to have all sizes available!

Le Tote:
I have not yet subscribed to this, but I follow them and I'm very intrigued.  I love the pieces that show up in the emails, so I guess I'll have to give it a try.  Right now, they are offering up to 70% off pieces including clothing, jewelry and accessories.  Definitely worth looking into.

Lulu's:
Anyone ever purchase from this online store?  I get emails of all the new arrivals and of course I want everything.  Unfortunately, I always overspend on clothing so I have yet to get something.  They have a cute collection, so check it out.

BaubleBar:
I'm obsessed with BaubleBar's collection of jewels.  I have quite a few pieces and am eyeing so many more.  And, how adorable is that flamingo ad?!

There are many other sales out there.  Let me know if there are others that I should be checking out!

Happy Shopping!

Can you tell I'm loving this skirt?!  It's back for the second part of my closet challenge.  Yesterday I shared a casual styled post featuring this striped pencil skirt (if you missed it, you can view it here.)  It is such a versatile piece that can definitely be dressed up or down!

Peplum top, old (love this and this) | Striped Pencil Skirt, old (love this and this | Nude wedges old | Rings, Lauren Conrad, Nikki Stark Jewellery and New York & Company

I love mixing prints, and it's no surprise that florals and stripes are one of my favorite combos.  But keeping the whole outfit to a black and white color scheme was so refreshing and modern, and so unlike me since I live for color.  I loved this look for work.  I paired it with nude wedges, but I can see looking great with black pumps as well.

Again, I kept my accessories pretty tame in this look.  But I just had to show off my fun summery mani and the rings I styled with this look!

A lot of us get bored with the same untouched clothes in our closets, so it was fun to pick something that I haven't worn in a while and see it in a different light.  Now I'm not sure which outfit I like better so I guess I'll have to wear both again!

This week I decided to challenge myself by picking an item in my closet and creating two different outfits for it.  I decided on this striped pencil skirt.  What I love about this skirt is that the stripes are different shapes and widths.  Stripes that are evenly spaced can make you appear wider, and doesn't quite work well for me because of my bigger hips.  The abstract stripes create more visual interest as well because it's unexpected.

H&M Chambray Top, old (similar here) | Striped Pencil Skirt, old (love this and this) | HauteLook Necklace, old | Booties, old

I knew I had to pull out my trusty chambray top to dress down this skirt (the shirt has really become one of my go-to pieces!)  The polka dots combined with the stripes made for some print mixing fun!  Even though my rule of thumb for mixing prints is to pick two pieces with a similar color scheme, the chambray just called out to me.  I've paired it with so many prints that this top has become somewhat of a neutral for me!

This time around I wanted the outfit to stand on its own without accessorizing too much, but I couldn't resist adding this funky floral necklace.  It's such a great summer color and again added to the visual interest of the outfit.

I loved putting this casual look together.  While I've never been a huge fan of stripes, the print has really been growing on me the more I wear it, especially when it comes to print mixing!  I can't wait to share the more professional or dressy post incorporating the skirt later this week.  A little hint-it involves more print mixing!

I wanted to share another Rocksbox set that I recently received!  Once again, Rocksbox sent over 3 wonderful pieces (but I loved my previous set a bit more because of the color variety.)  I did like all of the pieces I received and the blues were just gorgeous paired with summer attire!  If you want to learn more about Rocksbox, check out here and here!

You can try Rocksbox for yourself with one month free using code paintthetownchicxoxo.

Rocksbox Set 3

Perry Street Lily Earrings
These tassel earrings were love at first sight.  I saw someone else with these earrings and I had to have them.  These were great for dressing up or down and I may have worn them the entire time I had this box!

Robyn Rhodes Ivy Necklace
This gorgeous pendant was something I would have never chosen for myself, but I loved it.  It ended up being a great piece on its own or layered with other necklaces for a boho look.  I wasn't able to get  a great styled shot of the necklace, but trust me, you'll want to request it in your future Rocksbox set!

Trina Turk Hexagon Stone Flex Bracelet in Turquoise
Another Trina Turk piece in my Rocksbox set...jackpot!  This bracelet was beyond gorgeous and I loved wearing it, but I did not like the magnetic fastener.  It fell off a few times, and it was definitely scary thinking that I lost it.  If the clasp was different, I would have highly considered keeping it because it's a perfect statement piece.  I believe it comes in other colors as well.
Another great Rocksbox set thanks to my stylist Eleanor.  She curated a trio of baubles that fit my needs with pieces I could wear for many different occasions.  I didn't keep any of pieces this time around, but I was very tempted!

What do you ladies think of Rocksbox?

Paisley Crop, old | Pants, old | Charlotte Russe Sandals, old | H&M Crossbody, old | Revlon Lipstick in Primrose

There is something about paisley that makes me happy, and I'm really loving this pink and navy combo.  It's so fresh and summery!  I'm also loving the cut of this top-it has a crop feel without showing too much skin.  I decided to keep the accessories neutral to let the navy pop!  But I would love a pair of navy pumps...

If you're looking for a new everyday lippie, you have to try Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Primrose.  It's like your natural lip color, but enhanced.  So pretty!

Hot pink is one of my favorite colors to wear, especially wearing it during the summer with a fresh tan.  The color really pops.  There are some gorgeous pink pieces out there right now and I'm loving the details on all of the pieces above.  Some of my favorite details include a plunging neckline, embroidered pieces, ruffle hems and long sleeves on dresses.

When accessorizing, I think gold shoes and jewels look best. But I'm sure a pop of navy or even orange would be fun as well.

Who else loves a little pink for the summer?

Striped Dress, old | H&M Lace top, old | H&M Pink Crossbody, old | Old Navy heels, old | East & Linbrooke Earrings c/o

Today's outfit started with these East & Linbrook earrings.  The fun color combo of the Cotton Candy Earrings can bring a boring outfit to life.  Not that black and white stripes are boring!  I had to do something with this dress because it's a tad big up top.  Right now it's too hot to layer with an oversized sweater (my favorite!) so I figured this lace top would be a perfect alternative.  Adding the skinny belt added some visual interest, and I had sandals in a matching color.  It was fun to add on the hot pink bag, and really, who doesn't love a pink and green combo?

So this dress and top pairing was an experiment and I really liked the way it ended up.  I think a sheer top works best, but it would be fun to play around with different colors and prints.  If you want a dress that gives you the same look, check out this East & Linbrooke dress that I found.  So cute!

I had to share one last photo from a meeting I had earlier today!  This pup is training to be a service dog for a child with disabilities and we've just fallen in love with him at work!  We'll be hosting an event later this year to raise money for the organization training him!  This is definitely one of my favorite parts of the job.

White Plum Dress, old | Lilly Pulitzer Beau Belt | Bracelets from Buckely London c/o, Lilly Pulitzer

As much as I love it, shopping online has it's downfalls.  One problem that I've encountered more as of late is inconsistent sizing.  This dress had been sitting in my closet for the longest time because it was way too big.  But I just love the embroidery and the beachy vibe, and it's not the kind of dress that I would take to get altered.  I recently brought it out again because I'm doing a bit of closet cleaning, and figured I'd have to find a way to make it work...

When in doubt, wear a belt!

With a belt, this dress fit much better.  I think this is better suited for a coverup so I'll have to take it along when I go to the beach.  I'm still on the lookout for other embroidered pieces (a plus if it's work appropriate!) for the summer if any of you have suggestions!

In other news, I figured I had to get out while the sun was still out.  The weather has been so strange here.  Hope you're having a great week!

Who doesn't love a spa day?  As much as I'd like to go to the spa weekly, I love products that allow me to have a luxurious spa experience in my own home!  I recently had the opportunity to sample some of Spongelle's products and they did not disappoint!
I received the buffer in the scent Bulgarian Rose, one of five scents available.  I'm a huge fan of florals and this smells heavenly!  I was pleasantly surprised by what a great exfoliant the buffer was; definitely better than any loofah I've used before.  It also left my skin feeling moisturized long after I showered.
My pedi buffer was the Mandarin Mint scent, which is one of two options.  I love doing mini pedicures at home, and this product will make that experience more luxurious and rejuvenating!  Again, it's a great exfoliant that moisturizes at the same time and smells amazing.  I will be using this weekly over the summer.

So what makes Spongelle different than other beauty products?
  • Innovative Technology (I'm still not quite sure how the buffers are so soft yet make a great exfoliant, but I will continue to use these!)
  • Long Lasting (Based on my experience so far, I'm thinking these products will last longer than the recommended washes!)
  • Amazing Scents (I'm already choosing what scents to try next!)
  • Luxurous Results (My skin feels soft, clean and relaxed long after using the buffers!)
  • Gorgeous Packaging (Yes, appearance makes a huge difference.)
Those are just a few of my favorite reasons for trying Spongelle.  You can buy Spongelle products online, but also at Spas and even Anthropologie (not that I needed another reason to love that store!)  I highly recommend trying this product; I will be replenishing my supply once these samples run out and will try some of their other products as well.  They have body lotion that matches the scents offered with the body was buffer and anti cellulite products as well!  Spongelle products are definitely worth adding to your skincare routine!

Crop tops are hot for the summer.  While I love the look, I never thought I could get away with this trend.  But there are ways for ladies of all ages and all body types to incorporate this look.  I particularly love the crop and skirt combos that show just a hint of skin!  Another great option is to pair crops with jeans and wedges-simple yet sophisticated that can go from day to night!  Of course a fun print just makes the look stand out.  If you're not quite ready to show skin, I love the illusion of the crop seen in the dress on the right!

So many ways to incorporate this look into your wardrobe!  What do you think of this trend?
