May 2016 | Paint The Town Chic
Tep from Preppy Teppy, myself, and Keyonna from Stellar Inc. Lifestyle

Today I got together with some fellow Wardrobe Boutique Ambassadors (and local bloggers!) for a fun afternoon of shopping!  You may remember previous posts highlighting the boutique and the great work they do to empower women (check out this recap for more info.)  I love checking in every now and then to see all the new goodies, and of course the boutique is stocked with summer essentials!  In fact, I spotted some perfect summer-ready looks throughout the boutique, including one of my favorite outfits created with items all from Wardrobe Boutique!
I feel ready for a chic European vacation in this ensemble!
Dresses made for twirling are a must have for summer!
Effortless summer layering for work

A quick look through the rest of the boutique and I found some older Lilly Pulitzer items, gorgeous printed pieces and colored blazers and pants!
It was such a fun afternoon with lots of amazing deals, refreshments, and the announcement of the #WhoWoreItBest contest (the winner got a gorgeous Dooney & Burke purse!)
Many of the pieces above are still available in stores.  Contact Wardrobe Boutique if you're interested in purchasing!  Additionally, if you missed today's event but would like to support the organization, consider getting a ticket to the upcoming Cocktail Reception & Auction on June 9.  I even hear there is a limited edition Lilly Pulitzer Beach Cruiser up for auction!!

Enclothe Boutique Windowpanes Dress c/o (True to Size) | Chambray, old | Kate Spade Keds in Rose Gold (sized down half a size) | BaubleBar Necklace, old

I confess, I've been keeping this beauty a secret until now.  There are so many reasons why I'm obsessed with this simple dress - well, the print of course; the color combo (navy and white is the perfect summer pairing); the large pockets (these may just be Mary Poppins pockets, they go on forever!); and the asymmetrical hem.  The hemline makes this dress the most flattering thing ever; it made my legs seem longer and leaner (and really, who doesn't want that!)  Asymmetrical hems are a must for summer and I recommend adding at least one piece in your closet.  The best part about his dress is that this can be dressed up or down!   I chose to style it dressed down and loved how it turned out.

I lusted over these Kate Spade Keds for so long and finally pulled the trigger during a recent sale.  They are so pretty and if you're on the fence about getting them, go for it.

Golden Tote Kimono (request Tyche Mosaic Print Kimono on your GoldenTote profile) | Old Navy Pocket Tee | Lauren Conrad Jeans, old | Dolce Vita booties, old | Clutch, old | Garnier Fructis Curl Nourish Shampoo, Conditioner, and Curl Pudding c/o

I can't believe it's almost June and I'm still dressing for cooler weather, but I think it's finally time to pack away the coats and boots!  I may still keep these booties out a little longer.  Even though it's warming up, it's still necessary to have coverups for cool summer nights and this colorful kimono is perfect for that.  You may have seen a peek of this in a recent Golden Tote Surprise tote pic on Instagram and it's even more beautiful in person.  I was worried about the length being as short as I am but I think it works nicely.  The colors are very vibrant and perfect for summer.  Before receiving this kimono, I had nothing like it in my closet.  The next time I style this I'll substitute the jeans and boots for some shorts and sandals!

On another note, summer isn't complete without tousled waves that looks like you just stepped off the beach.  Garnier Fructis has a line for achieving that very look from the comfort of your own home!  I sampled the Curl Nourish Shampoo, Conditioner and Curl Pudding and have to say that I was very impressed with the outcome.  My waves were defined and much less frizzy (the pesky rain just doesn't want to leave so I still had a bit of frizz) without a crunchy feel.  Very happy with this look and I will experiment more with the Curl Pudding for more definition!

Hope everyone has a great start to their week.  We're one step closer to Memorial Day, and I for one am definitely looking forward to a long weekend!

Today we're talking skincare...more specifically, the most moisturizing masks ever!!  When Masks is a Koran skincare brand known for making "coconut jelly masks."  This mask trend has recently gotten more popular in the US and is definitely unlike anything I've tried before!

What are these When Masks?
When masks are made with bio-cellulose, a thin sheet of material made from coconuts.  This gentle sheet effectively deposits nutrients to the skin at a deeper level.  Bonus, these sheets are eco-friendly, making it great for skin and the environment!

What makes When different from other masks?
These presoaked masks contain a significant amount of nutrients for the skin.  They are so effective because of the close contact between the mask and the skin which traps the formula so that the skin has to absorb it.  The masks stay on for about 30 minutes for maximum results.  The bio-cellulose is so gentle and can be used on most skin types.

Aside from the longer wait time, this is a low maintenance treatment.   After removing the mask, you rub in any remaining liquid so there's no need to wash up.  I actually prefer that because I don't have to moisturize after my mask like I usually do.   Less materials, less work...I love it.

What types of masks are available?
There are 5 different masks currently:

  • Snow Magic to brighten skin
  • Glamour Base (Makeup Base) to prepare your skin
  • TravelMate to refresh skin
  • 10:00PM to replenish skin
  • The Last Choice to hydrate skin

Where can you get When?
These masks can be found in a few stores, including Sephora, Birchbox and Anthropologie!

I received three different samples, but tried the Glamour Base mask first.  I won't scare you with photos of the mask on (believe me, it wasn't pretty!) but the results were well worth the experimentation!  I had a little trouble keeping the mask in place-the edges kept peeling away from my chin which didn't help with absorption.  The formula is also very cold, so I wouldn't recommend using on a cold day.  But boy does this mask pack a punch of moisture which my face needed after this late season cold spell.  It will take a few more tries to get this right as the mask didn't stay on tight near my chin, but my skin feels energized and ready to take on the remainder of the week.  The jelly was

Be sure to give When Masks a try and I'd love to hear your thoughts on them!

This has been a great week for Paint The Town Chic with testing out products from various subscription boxes!  One that I was really excited to dig into was the latest Glossybox.  Though I don't subscribe monthly, I love seeing reveals and in my "research" I've found that Glossybox curates a collection of unique products and brands compared to other subscription boxes.
Can you tell how excited I was to open this beauty up?   The inside was just as pretty as the outside!

Talika Photo Hydra
The calendar may say May, but the cold weather has my skin feeling dry and in need of some extra nourishment.  In comes Talika, which not only offers intense long lasting moisture, but the ingredients also help create a natural summer glow all year long.  I have oily-prone skin and always worry about the effects of intense moisture, but my face felt hydrated all day without the slick look.  Definitely a fan of this moisturizer and this luxury French brand!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara
I'm a sucker when it comes to trying new mascara.  I have my favorites, but I'm always up for trying new products, especially when they are from Benefit (Benefit's They're Real is one of my go-to mascaras!) I loved how defined my lashes were after using Roller Lash.  The brush coated lashes evenly.  But I prefer mascaras that create a dramatic effect.  I will definitely be using this as an everyday mascara and would consider it as a base because of how great the brush is!

Rituals Sakura Shower Gel (Zensation Foaming Shower Gel)
Shower gel may not be the most exciting item in any box, but it was one of my favorites from this month's collection.  I sampled Rituals Miracle Scrub prior to this and it was wonderful so I had high hopes for this product.  It did not disappoint!  There are a few scent options, but I received the Organic Rice Milk & Cherry Blossom.  I loved the delicate scent of the bodywash and was happy with how moisturized my skin felt afterwards.  Also, the unique gel to foam formula was a new but pleasant feel.  I hope Rituals carries more products in this scent and I'm looking forward to trying other items.

Versaspa Face Moisturizing Gradual Tanner
As someone fortunate enough to have a naturally tan skintone, this is not a product I need.  That being said, tanners sometimes help create a natural glow that enhances even my tone!  Daily use is recommended to achieve and maintain the best results.   Don't forget to wash hands immediately after use and keep face dry 4-8 hours after applying the product!  I will be saving this for later this year!

Nioxin System 3 Cleanser and Scalp Therapy Conditioner
This is another product that on initial examination is not something I would reach for.  I don't have thin hair (in fact, I have the opposite!)  But I do like the description that it removes unwanted oils and residue as well as adds volume.  Both the cleanser and conditioner smell minty and fresh, so I can image it feels great on the scalp.   I would love to test out, but will most likely share with someone who will benefit from this product!

In addition to a great curation, I loved the little details...the packaging...the tidbits and tips included on the product info sheet all made a huge difference.  Glossybox is definitely one of my favorite beauty subscriptions out there and I love that there are many more skincare items here than makeup.   If you like what you saw and want to subscribe, or just want more information, visit Glossybox here!

Stay tuned for more reviews this week, including Ipsy (there's a preview on my Instagram page!)

I received a May Glossybox complimentary in exchange for a review.  All opinions shared above are my own.

As you may know, I'm a huge fan of shopping and I love giving back to the community!  But when I can combine these two together, it's a win win!  As a Delta Zeta alum, I still love supporting my sorority any way I can, including giving back to our chosen charities.  This fall, my alumnae group is participating in the Walk4Hearing and we've begun to raise money for the Hearing Loss Association of America.

How can you help?
Shop Vivi online through this link and 20% of the proceeds will go to our Walk4Hearing team! It's that easy and benefits a great cause.

If you're in the Philly area and want to join us at a future GPAAC event, feel free to contact me at paintthetownchic@gmail.com for more details!

Blue Dress, old (love this and this) | Cardigan, old | Steve Madden pumps, old | Lilly Pulitzer Beau Belt, old

I love bold colors, but cobalt blue in particular is one of my favorite bold colors to wear.  I paired it with a neutral printed cardigan to break up the color and the pop of teal on the shoes also added some dimension.  I'll now have to look for a clutch in the same teal color to wear with the shoes!

The fit and flare style is one of the most flattering for dresses, and I own many in different colors.  The shape is perfect for all body types.  The "fit" defines waists and the "flare" hides any unwanted lumps and bumps.  The dress is also great style to take from day to night.  It's perfect for the office but also makes a great option for date night or a night out on the town!

I'm so happy we finally made it to the weekend!  I'm definitely looking forward to it!

Cowlneck Top (actually a dress from Enclothe Boutique!), old | H&M Midi Skirt, old  | Charlotte Russe Sandals, old (love this)

Does this top look familiar?  Well, that's because I styled it in its true form (as a dress) earlier this year (check out this post for more!)  I love the higher neckline and that it's sleeveless, but have yet to find an actual top.  This dress is great because it's lightweight so it works for all seasons, it's perfect for layering during colder weather, and it can be repurposed into a top when paired with a skirt.

May is a busy month for events and it's hard to keep up with everything, but I hope to have more regular posts soon!  I especially can't wait to share the reveal of my May Glossybox subscription, which will be posted next week, so stay tuned for that!
