Paint The Town Chic

I received a nice variety of items for my October Ipsy bag.  4 of the 5 were brands I had never tried before!

1.) Skyn  Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths - This was the item I was most excited to try in my September bag.  Sadly, it was a bit of a disappointment because I really, really didn't like the scent of the product.  This is more of a personal choice and not a performance issue since the I liked the lather from the cloths.  It cleaned my makeup quickly and is a great alternative to those long nights!  Luckily I can pass this along to my mother who liked the scent!  Not a bad product, but not something I would purchase.

2.) Figs & Rouge Hand Cream in Rose Berry - I was excited to see a product from overseas-this cream is made in the UK!  I also think the packaging is adorable.  But I wasn't a huge fan of the scent (or really the scent that was left behind behind after the lotion dries.)  Also, the formula is unlike anything that I've used.  The cream is not greasy, but my hands felt dry as I put it on.  An interesting item, but not one that I would purchase again (I prefer L'Occitane's shea butter hand cream!)

3.) Jessie's Girl Mineralized Baked Shadow Powder in Kiwi Shine - I love the marble look of the shadow with the green and gold mixed together, but this is definitely not a fall color, or a color I would choose for myself.  I wish I had gotten the Plum Frost (how pretty is that!)  It was really hard to get some color out of it.  Quick tip-mix with water for a more dramatic look (you can see the difference in color above.)  I prefer gold, nude/brown and purple shades in general, so not sure how much use this will get.  I'll save for the spring and try it again then.

4.) City Color Be Matte Lipstick in Cappuccino - I love getting lip products through Ipsy, but every month I hope for a dark color.  With that being said, this lipstick was my favorite product this month and the Cappuccino shade is definitely something I would reach for when purchasing a new lipcolor! I love the matte finish and pigmented color and it seems to last.  It's the perfect neutral but I've already gone on the site to search for the perfect fall colors (loving Francesca and Mauve!)  It's such a great price too-can't wait to try out some others!

5.) Ecru Acacia Protein BB Cream - I've never tried anything like this before, and I was pleasantly surprised!  Love that this is color safe too!  I applied a small amount to my damp hair and it really got rid of frizz!  My hair looks smoother without that greasy look that some products may leave.  Apparently, this this is part of a new collection and I would love to try the other products.

So far, this has been my least favorite Ipsy, but I'm not complaining!  I love being able to try new products for a great price.  I'm looking forward to next month's glitter themed bag!  If you're interested in checking out what Ipsy is all about, I'd appreciate if you used my link!

It's the season for holiday parties and gatherings and another reason for adding the perfect dress to your wardrobe.  Here are some of my picks for those special occasions!
  1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

I just bought the perfect holiday dress from Aoki Boutique, a local store near me in Philadelphia and I can't wait to wear it.  I'm really loving metallic details for holiday dresses and I think this will be fun to dress up!  It's by Sugarlips, but I haven't been able to track it down anywhere else (though I did find this really cute pink version and it's on sale!)

I'm definitely looking forward to the next few weeks and all the dressing up that comes with it!

Dress, old (love this) | Chambray Top, H&M | Leggings, NY & Company | Booties, old | Necklace, BaubleBar (similar here and here)

Recently I was running an event that I had to be somewhat dressed up for, but wanted to keep it casual before and after that event!  The result was pairing a lace dress with leggings and a chambray top!  I threw the chambray button-up on to dress the outfit down and I loved the way the layering look turned out.

And speaking of leggings, I live in leggings over the fall/winter.  I'm always on the search for the best pair, and I've recently found a winner at New York & Company!  They are so comfortable and not sheer, which is a must for leggings!  Looks like they have more fun choices in store too, like this moto legging with the leather detailing that everyone is loving right now!  That may just be my next purchase...

I'd love to hear about what fabrics you're layering together for the fall below!

For today's post, I wanted to share with you what keeps me feeling and looking healthy!

1. Yoga
While I'm not that into working out, I do love my weekly yoga classes.  That time to relax and distress while also burning calories is a win win win!  It's a great way to exercise without having to deal with the boring machines and weights, and I feel that I get more of a workout with yoga than any other exercise I do!

2. Tea
I'm a huge tea drinker (Jasmine green tea is my weapon of choice) but lately I've had the chance to sample a few teas c/o Newport Skinny Tea, including the Newport Skinny Daytime Tea, Newport Skinny Evening Tea and Malibu Beach Beauty Tea!  The idea is to drink 3 cups of the tea a day, before breakfast, lunch and dinner!  I'm always looking for healthy ways to curb my appetite (huge snacker here) so this is a great alternative.  Stay tuned for a special post with more about the tea and what I thought of it!

3. Vitamins
I live by my GNC Hair, Skin and Nail vitamins and I won't use anything else.  The serving is 2 tablets a day, and I take both of mine at night.  It's more effective to take 1 in the morning and 1 at night, but my crazy schedule makes it hard to keep up with that.  I can vouch for my the hair and skin portion (my hair grows very quickly and my skin looks healthy) but my nails aren't as strong as they tend to peel.

4. Cute Activewear
Cute clothing always helps, no matter the situation!  Victoria's Secret has amazing sports bras that are really cute and customized for different types of workouts.

5. Healthy snacking
As I mentioned above, I love food.  I've been working on snacking less though, and have found some deliciously healthy alternatives to traditional snacks.  My new obsession include rice crackers-so delicious and tastes great with dips like hummus and Veggie Straws!

I've been on a bit of a hiatus over the past week because it was so busy at work!  Lots of fun Halloween events, but I'm glad we're winding down with the holidays to look forward to!   I did want to share my makeup for one of the events - it was my first time getting my makeup done by MAC and it was so much fun!  I'm already thinking about ideas for next year!

But now layering weather is here, and we sure felt it today with the 40 degree weather. Today felt like a good day for a closet remix, and I wanted to bring this leopard print dress into the fall.

Dress, old Urban Outfitters | Cardigan, old | Tights, Kohls | Booties, old, Kohls (love this) | Necklaces, BaubleBar, Kohls

I decided to pair the dress with an oxblood cardigan, which will be on repeat since it's one of my favorite colors for the season.  I also found the most amazing fleece lined tights last week and I'm hoping there are different colors.  They are definitely worth purchasing, especially I wear a lot of dresses over the winter.

I've also been experimenting with layering necklaces.  I received this fun swat surprise with my last BaubleBar purchase, and I love the simplicity of the gold bar.  It pairs well with some of my long statement pendants!  Can't wait to add more layering pieces to my collection!

I love boots, especially during the fall and winter.  Paired with a tunic and leggings, the perfect footwear can make the perfect outfit.  Booties are great transition shoes, but now that fall is here to stay, I'm looking for some amazing tall boots, including some over the knee ones as well.  Here are some of my favorite picks!  I'm loving all the different heels and colors.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

Do you prefer shorter booties or over the knee version?  I love them all!
