April 2017 | Paint The Town Chic
Today I'm excited to feature my collaboration with Concihairge, the coolest way to get your hair done.  If you follow along on Instagram, you may recognize Concihairge from last week's The Blog Connect conference (they provided an amazing braid bar!)  Aside from braids they offer an array of salon services.  The best part, you get your hair done in the comfort of your own home.  Yes - the stylists come to your house for a cut, color, updos and select treatments for you, plus cuts for your family as well (see here for all the services offered!)

This visit I opted for a blowout.  The appointment was so easy to make; I just emailed them (appointment@concihairge.com) but you can also put in an appointment request online.  I was able to get an appointment within a week.  Right now there are 3 stylists, but my blowout was with Monica.
I'm sparing you the photos from before, but trust me when I say Monica did a fabulous job!  She used a variety of tools and products to give me the prettiest soft curl with volume.  The weather was in the 90s yesterday, so she also knew that my frizz prone hair needed a little extra help and she finished off the look with hairspray and frizz protectant spray.  Monica was so sweet and fun to chat with that the time really flew by.  The entire visit was about one hour.

Monica also shared a great tip with me - let your curls cool completely before brushing them out.  That makes the curl last longer!  I can attest to that because its over 24 hours later and my blowout still has some life!

Why You Should Try Concihairge?

  • With work and family, you just don't have time to drive to a salon!
  • You're a mama with young children don't have to worry about entertaining the kids (bonus, kids can get their haircut too!)
  • You are expecting and want to do a maternity shoot!  Or you you're getting new headshots, or any other type of photo shoot!
  • Weddings, obviously!
  • You need a quick style between work and an evening event (they come to your work, and you can even get a group of coworkers in on it as well!)
  • Blogger photo shoots!
The list is endless.  Concihairge is perfect for anyone looking for affordable salon quality services in a convenient setting!

And here are some photos from The Blog Connect conference with a braid bar led by Cate and Corissa!
I've had two incredible experiences with Concihairge.  I wish these ladies could do my hair everyday, but now I know who to call upon when I do need to get my hair done!  Concihairge currently operates on the Main Line and local suburbs and in Northern Virgina, but will be launching in Philly tomorrow, May 1st!  If you want to check them out, they are having a launch party on May 6 at Skirt Boutique in Rittenhouse (and they are providing braids, curls or waves.)  Be sure to RSVP to info@concihairge if you would like to attend!

Special Offer For Philly Gals
Concihairge is also offering a special deal for Philly gals.  Book your first appointment by May 5 to take place before the end of the month and you'll be entered to win a $250 grand prize for a gift card and other hair goodies!

What do you think about Concihairge?  Would you give it a try?

A huge thank you to Concihairge for providing a complimentary blowout in exchange for a review.  All opinions shared above are my own.

Guys, I've really been slacking here with the Ipsy reviews, but I was determined to get this review in before my May bag shipped.  Success!  I also had to share the April selection with you because I got so many cool pieces that I wouldn't ever think to try.  Let's take a closer look!
Of course I was immediately drawn to the super cute vintage vibe of this The Balm Cosmetics item.  After closer examination (and a little swatch) I actually ended up liking this bronzer a lot.  It provides a gorgeous color payoff that can be layered for a darker look.  My only issue is the sample makes it hard to apply.

I was beyond thrilled to see a new-to-me Hey Honey product for April; it's one of my favorite brands that I've discovered through Ipsy.  I've had a bad run with chapped lips lately, so this has become a staple in my bag.  This lip balm is super moisturizing, long lasting, and smells nice.  If you're looking for a new lip balm, I definitely recommend this.

I have a thing against liquid eyeliner - I usually find it to be messy and hard to apply.  But I decided to give this a chance and I was pleasantly surprised.  The tip made it easy to apply and the product dried quickly.  But after a few hours, it was already fading.  I will use this but not purchase again as I still prefer eyeliner pencils.
4.) Glamour Dolls x Lisa Frank Angle Brush (this was a pre-launch item coming in June!)
Now this was the item I fell for at first sight.  I was obsessed with Lisa Frank when I was younger so this was a fun blast from the past.  But aside from the packaging, this brush is so soft and perfect for applying blush or contouring.  The bristles are also very soft.

5.) H2O+ Beauty Elements Keep It Fresh Cleanser
My favorite Ipsy items to try are always the skincare items.  It was no exception this time around.  I was happy to see a deluxe sample size face wash.  I was also happy to see that this is for normal to dry skin.  The cleanser is a gel, which is different from what I've been using.  The gel turns into a nice lather which was cleansing but not drying.  And it has a nice scent too.  I enjoyed using this cleanser.

We can't forget a quick note on the bag.  The ticket pouch was so cute and whimsical!
I wanted to also share my March bag, which I didn't get to review on the blog.  If you have questions on any of the products, feel free to ask below!  I cannot wait to see what's in store for my May Ipsy bag.

Finesse Restore + Strengthen Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner c/o

Today I'm talking about a new to me haircare line, Finesse.  I was intrigued after reading that Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner are a fan of this super affordable line, which can be found at places like Walgreens and Walmart.

Of course I was drawn to the packaging.  I loved the bottles and how easy they were to handle (who else hates bottles that doesn't dispense the product easily!)  Both the shampoo and conditioner had a light lather and paired well together.  I also liked the fresh herbal scent; it's somewhat hard to describe but it definitely had a hint of spice!

This line is popular with women who have curly/wave hair.  I could see more defined waves just after one use!  However, my hair was definitely frizzy so I have to use a curl defining product.

The verdict?  Overall, I was impressed. My hair felt so silky, soft and healthy, especially since I recently colored my hair!

5 Reasons To Try Finesse Restore + Strengthen Moisturizing

  • Infused with active silk and soy proteins that help strengthen hair and leave it silky and moisturized!
  • Perfect for wavy/curly hair!
  • Fresh and herbal scent!
  • Easily found at places like Walmart, Rite-Aid, and grocery stores!
  • It's only $3.99!

I really enjoyed sampling this line.  It looks like Finesse has other products in case this doesn't work for your hair type.  Have you tried Finesse haircare before?  Would you give it a try?

*Thanks to Finesse and Brandbacker for providing these complimentary samples in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions shared above are my own.

New York & Company Embroidered Denim (linking some other options below) | Black Cami | H&M Blazer, old (similar here) | Zooshoo Pumps | H&M Crossbody, old | Chloe + Isabel Necklace, old

all photos by Julia Dent | Philly With A Fjallraven

Who else is loving the embroidery trend this season?  I, for one, am obsessed, and knew I had to have a pair of embroidered jeans.  It took me a while to find the perfect pair of floral embroidered jeans but this pair is worth the wait.  I loved the distressed look, the spring colors in the embroidery, and how comfy these jeans are.  Win-win-win!

My other favorite style tip is to pair denim with heels, but more specifically pairing boyfriend jeans with chunky heels.  I love the cross between casual and dressy.  These pumps are my newest acquisition from ZooShoo (which is quickly becoming my favorite shoe retailer!)  I may have to break them in a bit, but they were a bit uncomfy walking around during this shoot.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend loves!  I'm off to NYC for the weekend!!

The Blog Connect conference is just around the corner, so a few of us attendees have already been talking about what to wear.  We're suggesting conference chic, but what exactly does that mean?  In order to help you out, I stopped over to ellelauri, the location of our pre-party, to scope out some of the hot fashion trends and to give you some outfit inspiration!  Liz (the owner of ellelauri) and I came up with 5 trends to try out!

5 Trends To Wear at The Blog Connect Conference

  • Ruffles:  If you haven't already seen this PHLbloggers collab all about ruffles, head over there immediately and you'll see why ruffles are a must for spring.  My favorite trend right now.
  • Pastels:  How pretty is that pink dress I'm holding above?  The pale pink is definitely a must for spring, and it has such a fun ruffled sleeve.  There were quite a few pastel pieces throughout the store so there's something for everyone to love.
  • Off The Shoulder/Fun Sleeves/Bell Sleeves:  Off the shoulder is a trend that will be around for a few months.  It's such a fun neckline for warmer days, and I'm especially loving them with nautical themes, like blue and white stripes.  Bell sleeves are a detail I've been crushing on for a few months now; but I'm loving the colors and prints for spring, like the florals and pastels!  That white top in the last photo is especially cute with the ruffled sleeve.  It's perfect paired with distressed denim or a skirt.
  • Embroidery:  Who else is into embroidery right now?  I recently got a pair of embroidered floral jeans (which will be on the blog soon) and I'm obsessed.  There are a few embroidered pretties in store, but they are going quickly.  Look closely in the photos up top and you may find a chambray top with pretty aztec inspired embroidery that's also perfect for festival season!
  • Florals:  Both Liz and I gravitated towards that gorgeous blue floral dress, which also has a fun cutout and ruffled sleeve detail (if you get this, you hit the trend jackpot!)  I am all about the floral prints for spring.

I can truly say I love all of these, and ellelauri has some great selections that are on trend for spring.  I can't wait to see everyone's outfits in a few weeks.  If you need some style tips or ideas, be sure to connect with me via email or Instagram!

If you haven't already gotten your tickets, be sure to get them asap (we have an amazing weekend planned!)

Chambray Top, old | Denim, old | Sandals, old (love this option from Target!) | Le Clé Leopard Crossbody (comes in five colors!) | BaubleBar Reina Choker (on sale!) | Chloe+Isabel Wrap Bracelet

White denim + chambray are two of my favorite spring/summer staples!  It's so simple, but these pieces pair perfectly together, don't they?  I've also gotten into tucking my shirts in recently; I love the cleaner silhouette.

But what ties this look together are the accessories.  This Le Clé leopard crossbody is the perfect neutral with a little twist...I'm a huge critter fan, so I immediately noticed the leopard clasp.  It's the perfect detail and makes this bag unique.  The bag is on the smaller side, but fits all the necessities!  It also looks and feels luxurious but the $30 price tag makes my wallet so happy!

I'm also loving this pretty choker which I snagged a few months ago.  It's now on sale and totally worth the purchase.  I loved dressing up with casual outfit with the fancy bauble.
