April 2016 | Paint The Town Chic
Golden Tote Top | Old Navy Denim, old | Sandals, old  | BaubleBar Earrings, old

It's been a while since I've posted about Golden Tote. After being a bit disappointed with my last tote and asking for a little help from customer service (thanks Jen!) on how set my profile, a perfectly curated surprise tote appeared at my door! This was my first surprise tote, and it was full of pretty prints and included two dresses, a kimono, and a tank.

Here I'm featuring the layered tank that was one of my surprise items!  Aside from having the prettiest abstract print, this tank was so comfy!  Definitely flattering but loose enough to hide a food belly.  I tend to stay away from short lengths, but I think this tank works nicely and keeps everything covered!  The lace detailing on the shoulder and back also added a nice detail.  I'll be pairing it with jeans/shorts, but could definitely see this under a blazer for work.

Want this top for yourself?  Request the Collective Concepts Printed Tank with Lace Back in your GT style profile!

In anticipation of the new sale on Monday, I wanted to share a few changes that Golden Tote just announced:

  • The Mini Tote (1 chosen and 1 surprise) will now cost $59
  • The Surprise Tote (all surprises) will be $89 and includes 3 items
  • The Golden Tote (2 chosen and 3 surprises) will stay at $149 but will include 3 surprise items regardless of the cost of your chosens
  • The Puella Gold Edition Tote is coming!  It will be $175 and will include 4 exclusive Puella items
  • Shipping is now $5.95

Charlotte Russe Ruffle Chambray Top (similar here) | Old Navy Jeans, old | Wedges, old | Chloe+Isabel Portico Post Drop Earrings | MAKE Cosmetics Silk Cream Lipstick in Taffy c/o | MAKE Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Alabaster c/o

This was a fun look to put together!  I had been wanting a ruffle chambray top (very specific, I know) for a while and I was beginning to lose hope until I found one at Charlotte Russe.  I've gotten quite a few trendy items at a great price there!  I loved that the denim pieces were slightly different shades so they paired well together!  I know I'll be wearing this blouse a lot this summer.

I was also recently able to try some products from MAKE Cosmetics.  How cute are these samples!!  I tested the Silk Cream Lipstick in Taffy and the Matte Finish Eyeshadow in Alabaster.  The lipstick was a vivid rosy pink that provided just the right amount of pigment!  It's the perfect summer shade.  The lipstick was also very moisturizing.  The eyeshadow on the other hand didn't offer much of a contrast on my skin.  I did feel like my eyes appeared brighter after applying a few swipes of the shadow.  I think it would make a nice base or even blended with other shades.

Good news, you can try Make Cosmetics for yourself!  Use code MAKEYOURSELF to get 20% off your purchase!

MAKE Cosmetics has a large array of products!  Not only were the products I sampled not tested on animals, but a portion of sales from any purchase support the We See Beauty Foundation, which empowers women entrepreneurs!  I'm a huge fan of using brands that also support the local community, so I will be checking out more from the brand!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Where did this month go?  Only a few more days before we get May sneak peeks, but I want to share my April Ipsy bag before then.
1.) Buxom Cosmetics Wildly Whipped Liquid Lipstick in Centerfold
This was my first time trying Buxom Cosmetics and I was really looking forward to trying this lipstick!  It definitely lived up to expectations.  The packaging was darling, and the sample size tube resembles the full size version!  The lipstick itself smelled nice, wasn't sticky, felt moisturizing and went on easily.  I love the whipped texture.  My only complaint is that I've gotten a matte nude in my last few bags, but I'd like to try some of the darker shades.  Definitely my favorite April item!

2.) Nudestix Lip + Cheek Pencil in Mystic
I'm not one for multipurpose beauty items, but I'll make an exception for this Nudestix Lip + Cheek pencil.  This pencil can be used a lip liner, a lipstick, lip balm and a blush!  I tried it on as a  lipstick/balm and loved the hint of color it provided.  Another benefit of Nudestix is that it's made up of all natural ingredients, which makes it great for any type of skin, especially sensitive skin.  This pencil will be going in my work bag for on-the-go touchups!

3.) Skinn Cosmetics Bright Eyes Eye Enhancing Eyeliner in
Now this is a product I would have never thought to try if not for Ipsy!  The trick is to apply to the inner corners of your eyes to create a bright eyed look.  I've tried other products to achieve this look (i.e. eyeshadow), but it's so much easier to apply with a stick.  I'd like to try other products rom the Skinn Cosmetics line now!

4.) Nth Degree Moroccan Argan Oil and Keratin Hair Serum
I rarely get hair products through Ipsy, so I'm always excited to see one in my bag.   A little goes a long way with this hair serum!  The serum should be applied from the middle of your hair to the tips to reduce frizz and increase shine without making your hair appear greasy!  This also had a nice, light scent which was a pleasant surprise.

5.) LAB2 Live and Breathe Beauty Just Blending Brush
I like getting brushes in Ipsy bags because I don't buy them otherwise.  This brush was soft and applied product beautifully.  It's also very sleek looking.  On a side note, LAB2 has the cutest website with great tips on how to use their brushes!

Overall another great month of new products!  Very happy with my items and now looking forward to seeing what new in May.

Lilly Pulitzer Ophelia Dress in Pooling Around (old, but available in these new prints!) | Kohls Basketweave Scarf | Boots, old

Happy Friday!  Lately I've been loving pretty back details.  I recently bought two new tops that have a surprise back but today I'm doing a quick feature on the Lilly Pulitzer Ophelia Dress.  I fell in love with this print, which is actually somewhat tame for a Lilly print, but it's the back that makes this dress so special.  This is also one of the comfiest dresses ever.  While this particular print isn't available in stores any longer, there are some equally gorgeous Ophelias in new prints that I of course want!

I bought this hot pink scarf specifically to pair with this dress, but it's already been worn with other outfits.  I really love that shade of pink and the basketweave texture is very pretty.  The specific scarf comes in a few other colors that also pair well with Lilly.  My favorite part about these scarves is that they can be worn so many ways, including the few examples above.

Enclothe Boutique Parrot Dress, c/o | Chambray Top, old (like this) | Kohls Booties, old | Target Crossbody, old | NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick in Soft Spoken

I'm a sucker for any critter print, and as soon as I saw this dress I knew I had to have it.  It's the perfect summer print.  I've been waiting for the right opportunity to wear this, but the weather hasn't been cooperating.  The best part about this dress is that it's very form flattering.   The cinching defines the waist and the halter neckline accents the neck and shoulders!  Since it's still been cold, I threw on the chambray top (which is also a great way to transition summer dresses!)  I highly recommend snagging this dress from Enclothe before it sells out.

The lipstick was from the March Ipsy bag.  It's a very pretty nude color that matched the dress perfectly so I had to pair them together!  You can check out the full review of the March bag here!

Hope you have a great start to the week!

I just took a sneak peek at my upcoming Ipsy bag and realized that I haven't shared my goodies in a while.  So this review is a little late!  As usual, I had a great time trying out some new products!

1.) Temptu Warm Glow Bronzer  (included in this set)
I've seen Temptu appear in Ipsy bags but never had the opportunity to try it until now!  This multi-purpose product can be used as a bronzer to achieve a natural sun-kissed look.  The shade is too light for my skin tone, so I didn't use it as a bronzer.  However, a few drops mixed in with my favorite foundation created a luminous all over glow which I loved.  This is a keeper!

2.) Manna Kadar 3 in 1 Blush Highlighter Eyeshadow in Fantasy
At first glance I was not pleased to see another eyeshadow in the same shade I always get.  But the more I read about this product, I realized it offered many uses, not just for eyes.  This beautiful and neutral shade also makes a great highlighter.  Again, a little too light for my skin tone, but could possibly be used as a blush!

3.) NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Soft Spoken
The lipstick shade I received is a pretty neutral brown.  Starting to sense a pattern here!  My whole bag had neutral, yet complimentary shades but I can't complain as they're all so pretty.  This was long lasting, but I found it to be too drying, and for that reason I wouldn't buy again.

4.) NoTS 28 Remedy Balancing Toner
Toner isn't a product that's part of my normal skincare routine but I know those who use it love it.  I was happy to see this sample as part of my bag so I could try something new.  I used it after washing my face, and it definitely made my skin feel fresher and controlled oil production (so this is great for oily or combination skin!)  The full size product is a little more than I would spend, but I would definitely consider adding a toner to my collection!

5.) Organic Surge Hand & Nail Cream in Lavender Meadow
I'm always up for trying new lotions, and this one smells like something you would find in a spa.  I loved the scent!  It's also a light moisturizer, which I like.  The best part is that this is made with all natural ingredients!  I've already added this to my handbag for daily use.

Overall I liked this month's collection of goodies even though I wasn't all that impressed initially.  Everything was packaged in another cute bag.  I've already seen next month's products, and it seems like one of the best collections I've gotten so far and I can't wait to share it with you!

Since I've been so behind on my Ipsy reviews, here was my February bag.  Loved the Ciate polish and BellaPierre Blush the best!

They say that beauty starts from the inside out, and that definitely includes your clothes!  I recently tried some goodies from Smart & Sexy and I was beyond impressed with the quality and fit of the bras.   The bras start at $5 and I have to say, I like the lace push up bra better than some of my bras from Victoria's Secret.  There are quite a few options to choose from and they come in a variety of sizes.  (Side note...the bras and boyshorts are actually black, the photo was lightened to show the pretty lace!)

There's another reason why Smart & Sexy caught my eye.  I'm all about supporting companies that give back to the community.   For each garment sold, Smart & Sexy makes a donation to an organization that empowers women.  That's a win win in my book!

Speaking of empowering women...you may have seen some posts about Wardrobe Boutique and Career Wardrobe here on Paint The Town Chic, and I'm excited to be partnering with them as one of their new Ambassadors!  Not only have I found some amazing gems at their boutique, I love supporting a great cause.  Especially a cause that supports women!  They just shared some great news-Career Wardrobe recently received a grant that allows them to expand into the suburbs of Philadelphia!  You can check out more here.  Philly area ladies, you have to check out the boutique and see what's in store!

Stay tuned to read more about my adventures with Wardrobe Boutique!
