Happy Earth Day! Over the past year, I've made a conscious effort to be more sustainable in my life. Whether that's supporting brands that are better for the environment or finding ways to spend less, every little bit counts. Today I wanted to share 5 easy ways to be more eco-friendly!
1. Shop Smart!
Shopping less is ideal, but when that doesn't work, I look for ways to shop smart. In the past year, I've gotten more excited about consignment shopping! I shopped online at swap.com (full review here) and in store at Clothes Mentor (review here)! Both experiences reminded me how easy it can be to find a good deal and be good to the environment.

On the other hand, I've also been drawn to eco-friendly brands. I recently wore this button back dress from Pact - see above! Their clothes are made with organic cotton, in Fair Trade Certified™ factories and their practices reduce the amount of water used to make the clothes. A win-win-win in my book. I'll do a round-up of more sustainable clothing brands in a future blog post!
2. Protect Your Skin
Clean beauty is a no brainer. I have shared quite a few green beauty finds in the past year, particularly on my Instagram page. One of my favorite brands is Love Beauty Planet. Bottles made with 100% recycled materials, fast-rinse technology, and organic and sustainable ingredients are just some of the ways they give back to the environment. I love how affordable this line is, making sustainable products accessible to everyone. And to top it off, their products smell amazing and look so cute in those shelfies!

Finding local boutiques that sell green beauty has been a goal of mine. Luckily The Indie Shelf has opened right here in Philly and it is a much needed concept for our city! Stay tuned for a post highlight the brands available and lots more. Spoiler - I'm obsessed with it.

Again, I will have to do a round-up of green beauty and skincare brands and why they are important!

3. Watch What, And How, You Eat
More and more, I appreciate knowing where my food is coming from. I prefer fruits and veggies sourced from local farms, and love eating at restaurants that also support local businesses!

Additionally, I try to use reusable products as much as possible. Straws, mugs, utensils and more.
4. Waste Not
I am obsessed with going to the library! Ever since I was little, I've always been that person who would rather get a book from the library than purchase just to read it once.

This could be applied to so many other industries. If you can borrow or recycle something, go for that option.

5. Travel Light
I have a love-hate relationship with public transportation, but the benefits it provides outweigh the negatives. Before driving, consider whether you can walk, bike, take public transportation, or even Uber with friends to your destination.

These are a few easy ways to add sustainable practices to your lifestyle. I would love to know your tips as well!
