Paint The Town Chic: Lilly Pulitzer
Lilly Pulitzer
Lilly Pulitzer Edna Dress in Hanging With The Fronds, old | Lilly Pulitzer Abbott Sweater Vest, old (also love the sweater version) | Chaps Rihannon Boots (on sale, size up!) | Clutch, old | Lilly Pulitzer Tassel Necklace, old (similar here) | Chloe + Isabel Retro Glam Bracelet | Winky Lux Flower Balm

Who else is already planning their spring wardrobe?  This warm weather has me pulling out all the transition pieces already.  One item I snagged in the recent Lilly Pulitzer sale was this Abbott Sweater Vest.  How amazing is this color and the fringe detail?!  I'm a sucker for vests, so of course I had to grab this to layer over my printed dresses.  The Abbott Vest also came in white and gold (that gold version is so elusive though; I'm still on the hunt for it!)  I'm so excited to pair the vest with other outfits in the next few weeks!

I also have to give a shoutout to this Winky Lux Flower Balm.  Not only does the stain change color based on your pH level, it is super moisturizing and smells amazing.  The balm comes in a few different flower options as well.  I highly recommend getting one.

It's finally here.  Tomorrow is the day for the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale!  The fun starts in the morning, but tonight I'm sharing some quick tips that have helped me in previous sales!

1.) Know What You Want
Veterans of the sale know that there are certain items that go quickly...scarves, popovers, and elsas to name a few.  It's always helpful to do some research prior to the sale and quickly add the items that you want the most first.  Also find out what sizes to get because the sizing can be inconsistent between items and even prints!

2.) Check Back On The Second Day
During the last sale, I had my list ready and didn't find some pieces that I really wanted only to find them added to the site on the second day!  Not sure if this will apply in tomorrow's sale, but keep that in mind when shopping!  I've also gotten some items during a restock on the second day, so it's definitely worth checking on Friday.

3.) Update Your Contact Info
This is one of the most helpful tips.  Have your credit card info updated online so checking out is quick and easy!

4.) Be Online at 8am
The sale starts at 8am EST, so set your alarms and get online prior to that.  If you're one of the lucky ones, you'll get in immediately.  If not, you'll be added to the queue...do not refresh the screen or you'll go to the end of the list.

5.) Check Signature Stores and Lilly Pulitzer Stores For Items
Signature Stores sometimes have better pricing and varied inventory (and better customer service.)  Plus, who doesn't like supporting small businesses.  I've already started my shopping at the wonderful Pink Bee!

Be sure to check out some previous APS posts here and here for more deets and follow along on Instagram where I'll be posting my sale finds!  Happy Shopping ladies!

If you follow my blog, you know I'm a huge fan of dresses and wear them all year.  Of course I have a few favorites that I can't bear to put away during the fall and winter.  I'm all for finding ways to extend the use of my dresses so I can wear them all year.  I've done a lot of experimenting (and researching on Pinterest) and here are my favorite ways to style dresses for cool weather.

5 Tips to Style Summer Pieces for Fall

  • Add a Vest!  It's one of the easiest ways to style for fall and they are actually quite warm!  While I've only styled furry and quilted vests, I can't wait to add more to my collection.  Some of my current favs include:

  • Bring on the Booties!  I'm partial to OTK boots with tunics and dresses, but this season I've really gotten into booties thanks to ZooShoo!  Some trends I'm really loving right now include velvet, jewel tones, and leopard print!

  • Oversized Sweaters are lifesavers.  Not only are they super cute, throw them over maxis to give your dress a different look by turning it into a skirt.  Check out this recent post for inspiration!

  • Speaking of sweaters, I'm loving Dusters.  They really transform an outfit!  And yes, they can even work for us petite ladies - just make sure the hem hits at the right length (mid-thigh or calf!)  I'm also loving long vests.

  • Layer, Layer, Layer!  I'm loving a Thin Turtleneck under shift dresses.  This is my next styling experiment so stay tuned!

Hope these ideas are helpful and inspire you to keep your favorite dress in rotation a little longer!

Kohl Long-Sleeved Tee | Kohls Elle White Denim, old | Enclothe Boutique Vest, old | Lilly Pulitzer Murfee, old (current scarf collection here) | Boots, old | Clutch, old | Chloe + Isabel Portico Post Drop Earrings, (also love these from the same line)

Who says you have to stop wearing white after Labor Day!  I love the crisp, clean look of winter whites.  The other trend I'm still loving is vests.  I snagged this vest early this year, but I know it'll be getting a lot more use over the next few months.  It looks so cute over dresses as well as denim!

Of course even the most perfect white palette requires a pop of color.  The accessorizing was pretty simple, and I kept to a gray and blues theme.  I also took the opportunity to add one of my favorite Lilly Pulitzer Murfee scarves (this is the Sagittarius print!) This is one of my go to prints for fall/winter because of the dark background.

Over the next few days, I'll be sharing a new look for the blog so bear with me during this transition!  I'll also be sharing a special 2 year blogiversary post as well-I can't believe it's been that long!  Thank you all for following along on this journey!

Lilly Pulitzer Alexandra Dress, old | ZooShoo Mary Janes in Gray (also comes in black and nude) | Clutch, old

Every now and then a Lilly Pulitzer print comes along that you fall in love with.  For me it happened to be Southern Charm.  While the original pink background is gorgeous, I'm really loving the navy for fall/winter.  The Alexandra style is so flattering for all body types and I highly recommend getting it if it comes out in other prints, I know I'll be grabbing more.  I can't wait to pair the dress with tall brown boots, but this time I wanted to dress it up a bit with these Mary Janes!

Speaking of these Mary Janes, I got these from Amazon and they are so cute!  I'm really impressed with the quality and the price point is so affordable at under $35!  Not only are they stylish, but they are pretty comfy (I stuck with my normal size!)  The heel is the perfect height too - I especially love chunky heels because they are much easier to get around in.  I chose the gray because I don't have any pumps in that color, but there is also a nude and black option as well.   My shoes had a little flaw (one of the belts for the buckles was torn) but the shoes are still wearable and I will report back if anything is done!

I'm so excited to style these shoes with other outfits.  They will look so cute with maxi dresses and jeans and I definitely recommend snagging a pair for the fall.

Hope everyone has a great start to the week!  I'm hoping that comes with cooler weather because I''m over this heat and big frizzy hair!!

I received these shoes at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.  All opinions shared above are my own.

Lilly Pulitzer Coral Top in Summer Siren (tagged a few other colors below!) | Kohls Skinnies (found in store, but similar here and here) | Sandals, old | Crossbody, old | Lilly Pulitzer Starfish Cuff, old

As much as I like the classic red, white and blue combo, this year I got suckered into buying two of Lilly Pulitzer's pink, white and blue prints instead.  I don't think this Coral top or the print itself got that much love, but this After Party Sale impulse buy is really growing on me.  I love Lilly peplum tops so I had to give it a try.  The colors are more neon in person, which the photos couldn't capture.  This is a great top for summer.

Now I've mentioned before that I've recently gotten into denim, but that's because I'm finding jeans with some great details.  I'm loving the raw hem on these skinnies, and for less than $4 at Kohls, I had to have them.

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend.  I'm sad summer is coming to an end, but fall is my favorite season so there's lots to look forward to.  I can't wait to start my week with a pumpkin spice latte!

I think this illustration from B. Joyful Illustrations summarizes today's sale pretty well!  Refreshing the page at 8am still put me in line behind thousands and thousands of people.  I didn't get onto the Lilly website for almost 3 hours.  Luckily I did some backup shopping at Amazon and 6pm.com (amazing prices, newer items on sale and an extra coupon code on top of everything = jackpot!!!)  I also picked up some items at a signature store.  I'm so happy with my haul; I got many items that I really wanted along with some impulse buys that I hope work out!

Here's my haul.....
Anne Trapeze Dress | Cove Dress (still available in this color way) | Pixie Tank (all sizes available!)  |  Coral Tank (all sizes and only $29!) | Harper Dress | Kyla Romper | Marlowe Dress | Marlowe DressCathy ShiftClara Dress (all sizes still available!)

Lots of great things still available, so keep checking back.  I have picked up new items on day 2, just sayin!  In looking at my recap,  I have to put my wallet away now.  But I would love to hear what you scored in the sale below!
